We can perform same-day procedures in our office, without requiring a hospital stay. All of our doctors are experienced and board-certified in their specialty. What are Interventional Radiologists (IRs)?
Interventional radiologists are doctors who use their skills in reading medical images to guide treatments exactly where they are needed, inside the body. IRs invented the use of angioplasty and stents to open blocked arteries. They also specialize in many other minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat diseases in nearly every major organ system. IRs are able to perform major surgical procedures from the inside out.
What is a Vascular Surgeon?
A vascular surgeon is a doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of circulatory disorders. They are able to treat conditions of the arteries, veins or lymphatic system with medical therapy, minimally invasive procedures, or surgery.
Will I be Awake?
Our goal is to make you as comfortable as possible before, during and after the procedure. Most patients only need a local anesthetic to numb the site of the procedure. Procedural sedation is available if indicated.
If your procedure requires sedation, make sure a friend or relative comes with you, can drive you home, and is prepared to help you afterward.
Will I go home the same day?
VIVA is an outpatient facility. Patients will go home the same day of their procedure. Some procedures performed by our physicians require an overnight stay. Those procedures will be performed at a local hospital.
