Size Matters, Providing 24/7 Local Radiology Coverage and Access to Major Subspecialties
FREDERICKSBURG, VA, November 15, 2016 – For the third straight year, Radiologic Associates of Fredericksburg (RAF) has been recognized by Radiology Business Journal as one of the nation’s 100 largest privately owned radiology practices. The journal announced its 2016 “Radiology 100” ranking in the October/November issue.
RAF ranked 90th based on the number of full-time-equivalent (FTE) radiologists on staff – 30. The number of other FTE employees, 50, was also factored in, since four other practices on the list had the same number of FTE radiologists, according to the magazine’s selection criteria.
CEO Ed Swager noted that the group’s size enables it to provide referring physicians and patients with 24/7 local radiology coverage and the expertise of all major radiology subspecialties.
Dr. David L. Glasser, president of RAF and a board-certified, fellowship-trained diagnostic radiologist, explained, “A local radiologist is available for consultation, regardless of the time or day, whenever a referring physician has a question about a patient’s imaging study. Our radiologists also include specialists in body imaging, breast imaging, cardiac imaging, interventional radiology, musculoskeletal imaging, neuroradiology, nuclear medicine, and other fields. That means we can provide services locally that are often found only at major medical centers.”
RAF is the largest provider of medical imaging services in the Fredericksburg, VA, region, including Spotsylvania and Stafford counties. The group’s 29 radiologists and two vascular surgeons serve patients at two hospitals (Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital), four imaging facilities (Medical Imaging of Fredericksburg, the Imaging Center for Women, Medical Imaging at Lee’s Hill, and Medical Imaging of North Stafford), and RAF’s interventional radiology practice, Virginia Interventional & Vascular Associates.
The practice’s radiologists also interpret imaging studies for Stafford Hospital Imaging in Woodbridge and Virginia Women’s Center in Richmond.
