"I had excessive bleeding for months and was considering having a hysterectomy. My gynecologist suggested I consider a UFE because it was much less invasive and required less recovery time to heal. The team at VIVA was kind, respectful and compassionate and the procedure was amazing. A week afterward I was able to fly to Europe and enjoy my daughter's wedding! I have my life back and I would absolutely recommend VIVA to any women considering treatment for uterine fibroids." — Carolyn Neff

Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous tumors that grow within the walls of the uterus. Women with fibroids can experience daily discomfort and a disruption in their menstrual cycles. Symptoms include:

  • Heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Bleeding between periods
  • Lower back pain
  • Pelvic or abdominal pain
  • Constipation
  • Frequent urination

Treatments

UFE treatment is endorsed by the American College of Gynecology as a primary treatment for uterine fibroids. It provides a faster recovery time than surgical options, allowing for a return to normal activities in 7-10 days, compared with 6-8 weeks for a traditional hysterectomy. UFE is also significantly less invasive than a traditional hysterectomy.

There are very few complications associated with uterine fibroid embolization. In fact, more than 90% of our patients experience almost immediate relief from excessive bleeding.

Benefits:

  • Non-surgical, same-day treatment
  • Preserves the uterus
  • Shorter recovery time; less painful than surgery
  • Most patients return to normal activities within 7-10 days of treatment
  • After treatment, studies show 90% of women experience significant or complete resolution of symptoms
